Podcasts
I discovered podcasting in the summer of 2005. As an ex-radio man it appealed to me and for almost a year I persevered with creating what turned into a weekly show. In May of 2006 I took a holiday in Scotland (my honeymoon, actually!) and on my return I just couldn’t face picking up where I’d left off two weeks previously. The work involved in putting the show together on a weekly basis, with its later chart elements, the constant search for suitable ‘podsafe’ music to play and the updating of all the web sites where the show was listed (including my own), simply proved too much — especially given what I felt was a general lack of audience pick-up — and so I gave it up. There was a lot of ‘white noise’ out there in the podcast world back then and it was very difficult to be heard above the din. Still is.
Personally, I feel it would be a pity if all that past hard work was lost forever. Fortunately, the Internet provides a way for such material to be archived in perpetuity, so I thought I’d provide the MP3 files here for your listening pleasure — and for download to your own computers, if you wish.
As you listen to these shows, bear in mind that my many pleas in the later shows for you to vote for the songs at my web site are no longer relevant. The show’s Forum, where voting was conducted and details of the playlists were lodged, is now closed, so all you can do these days is listen.
